Cast On and Set-up
The cast-on for You're So Vain can be a little odd. Rather than a traditional i-cord cast-on, we suggest knitting an i-cord and picking up the stitches for your cast-on. However, you'll end up with some weirdness at the end. See this video for a tutorial on how to get the tail end to curve in a way to hide the knot!
(If you hate videos as much as Haley does, here's a photo instead)
When picking up, skip number 2 (below) and pick up number 3 as your first "picked up" stitch. Picking up and knitting stitch 2 will produce an unwanted slant.

Make sure the last stitch you pick up is from the second stitch on the i-cord, not the third. So in the photo below, do NOT pick up the red marked stitch. Instead, drop down to the green marked stitch, pick him up instead, and knit. That will force the i-cord to curve and hide the ugly knot at the end of the work.
